Meet The 2017-2018 BBH Cohort
Hello friends! I feel so blessed to be considered a part of this community for a short time. My name is Caitlin McVay and I am proud to be from Fairview, NC just outside of Asheville. I graduated from Appalachian State University with a BS in Recreation Management and a minor in Religious Studies. I love to splash around in God’s amazing creation, hike to amazing summits, harmonize ‘til my voice is hoarse, read a book, go contra dancing, stare at the moon, love on giraffes, have real conversations, and most of all love on all the people I am blessed to cross paths with. I can’t wait to start this new journey with all of you!
I’m Lisa Huffman, and I have spent my time growing and maturing throughout the Carolinas! I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Religion and Political Science from Furman University where I spent formative years, made friends and benefited from advice of dedicated teachers and mentors. At Furman, I was active in the Exploration of Vocation and Ministry program facilitated by the university chaplaincy. The EVM program encouraged me to view career as “vocation” and added faithful meaning to my work. While a BBH resident, I am pursuing my Master of Divinity with Union Presbyterian Seminary, Methodist paradigm, in Charlotte, NC.
2nd year Fellow
My name is Jeremiah Stanton-Rich. I am 23 years old. I graduated Appalachian State University in May of 2016 with a BA in Sociology and a minor in Mathematics. Over the years I have worked for a variety of ministries including youth programs, backpacking ministries, and I was even part of the Blackburn House cohort of 2016-2017. I loved my time so much in Todd that I decided to stay on for at least one more year of ministry here. I’m thankful to all of you who made last year such an amazing year and I can’t wait to strengthen these existing relationships.
To carry out their leadership, service, formation, and ministry with Blackburn House, each cohort member needs to each raise $10,000 during their 11 month residency in Todd. In order to meet their goal, they each need 20 people to contribute at one of the following levels:
4 people at $100/month
5 people at $50/month
11 people at $25/month
Or you can give a one-time gift in an amount that feels right to you.
Would you partner with them financially this year? There are two methods to make your contribution:
Through Paypal, a safe and secure online system, by clicking the DONATE button
Note: Please put the resident’s name to which you’re donating in “special instructions” section on the checkout screen.
By check, mailed to:
PO Box 42, Todd, NC 28684
Note: Make checks payable to Blackburn Community Outreach, with the name of the resident to which you’re donating in the memo line.
